Fill in a form that has no fields, add a note or a logo, box an important figure, highlight a clause or cover a mistake: pick a tool, the item appears on the page, and you drag it into place and drag its corner to resize it. Text boxes take a font (Helvetica, Times or Courier, regular or bold), size and colour; shapes and lines take a colour, width and opacity.

Items are drawn into the page content with pdf-lib when you save, so the result looks the same in every viewer and prints correctly. Everything else on the page is left exactly as it was.

Existing text cannot be edited in place: PDFs store positioned glyphs, not paragraphs. To change a word, cover it with a white-out box and type the new text on top. White-out only hides the text underneath; to remove confidential text for good, use Redact PDF.

How to use it

  1. Choose a PDF; the first page is shown.
  2. Click a tool (Text, Image, Rectangle, Line, Highlight, White-out) to add an item.
  3. Drag it into place and resize it; change its font, size, colour or opacity in the side panel.
  4. Repeat on other pages, then click Save PDF and download it.

Frequently asked questions

Are my files uploaded?

No. The file is read and processed by your browser on your device; nothing is sent to a server. You can load the page, switch off Wi-Fi and it still works.

Can I change the existing text of the PDF?

Not directly. Cover the old text with a white-out box and type over it, or convert the PDF to Word with PDF to Word and edit it there.

Does white-out remove the text underneath?

No. It covers it visually; the text is still in the file and can be copied. Use Redact PDF to remove text permanently.

Which characters can I type?

The standard PDF fonts cover Western European characters. Other characters (Arabic, Chinese, emoji) are printed as "?" and the tool tells you.

Can I use it with a keyboard?

Yes. Tab to an item, use the arrow keys to move it, Shift + arrows to resize it (or change the size of text) and Delete to remove it.

What if my PDF is password-protected?

The tool will say so. If it is your file and you know the password, remove the protection with Unlock PDF first, then use the unlocked copy here.
