The everyday PDF jobs are here: merge several files into one, split a long one apart, reorder, rotate or delete pages, and compress a scan that is too big for an upload form. Compression shrinks the pictures inside the PDF and keeps the text selectable; pages are turned into images only when a size limit cannot be reached any other way, and the page tells you when that happens.
