How it works

This GOSI calculator works out a Saudi Arabian salary after deductions for the 2026/27 contribution year (GOSI rates from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027). There is no income tax on salaries in Saudi Arabia, so the only deductions from an employee's pay are the social insurance contributions to GOSI: the annuities (pension) branch and SANED unemployment insurance, both charged on basic salary plus housing allowance.

Saudis insured before 3 July 2024 pay 9.75% of that wage (9% annuities plus 0.75% SANED); Saudis first insured from 3 July 2024 are on the new Social Insurance Law, whose annuities rate is 10% from July 2026 and rises to 11%. Non-Saudi employees pay nothing. A Saudi on SAR 10,000 a month (basic 70%, housing 20%) takes home SAR 9,122.50 a month.

Everything is worked out in your browser. It is an estimate for private-sector employees, not financial advice: commissions and other items GOSI counts in the wage, public-sector pension schemes and GCC nationals' home-country rates need their own figures.

How GOSI deductions work

GOSI contributions are a percentage of the contributory wage: your basic salary plus your housing allowance, or, if your employer provides housing, a value equal to two months of basic salary spread over the year. Transport and other allowances are not included. The contributory wage is capped at SAR 45,000 a month, so the highest a Saudi on the old system pays is SAR 4,387.50 a month.

For Saudi employees the employer pays the same annuities and SANED rates again on top of the salary, plus 2% for occupational hazards. For non-Saudi employees the employer pays only the 2% occupational hazards contribution and nothing is deducted from the employee.

Old system or new system: 9% or a rising rate

The Social Insurance Law that came into force on 3 July 2024 applies to people first insured on or after that date. Their annuities rate started at the old 9% for the employee and the employer, and it rises by half a percentage point each July from 2025 until it reaches 11% in July 2028. From July 2026 to June 2027 it is 10%.

Everyone insured before 3 July 2024 keeps the 9% rate. SANED stays at 0.75% for both groups. The new law also changes the retirement age and the service needed for an early pension, which do not affect your monthly pay.

Expatriates: no GOSI deduction, an end-of-service award instead

Non-Saudi employees are covered only by the occupational hazards branch, which the employer pays, so their net salary equals their gross salary. At the end of the contract they receive the end-of-service award under the Saudi Labor Law, which is paid by the employer and never deducted from monthly pay.

Rates are charged on the contributory wage: basic wage plus housing allowance (housing provided in kind counts as 2 months' basic wage a year), from SAR 1,500 up to SAR 45,000 a month. Transport and other allowances are not included. No income tax is deducted from salaries.

Annuities rate under the new Social Insurance Law

People first insured on or after 3 July 2024 pay a rate that rises by half a point each year until it reaches the final rate; employer and employee pay the same.

How to use it

  1. Type your total salary (basic plus all allowances) per month or per year.
  2. Choose your nationality; Saudis also choose whether they were first insured before or after 3 July 2024.
  3. Set your basic salary and housing allowance as a share of total pay, or tick "Housing provided by the employer" if you get accommodation instead of an allowance.
  4. Read your net pay per month and per year, the annuities and SANED deductions, your employer's contributions and the contributory wage they are based on.

Frequently asked questions

How much GOSI is deducted from a Saudi salary?

9.75% of basic salary plus housing for Saudis insured before 3 July 2024: 9% for annuities and 0.75% for SANED. Saudis first insured from 3 July 2024 pay 10.75% from July 2026. The contributory wage is capped at SAR 45,000 a month.

What is SAR 10,000 a month after GOSI?

With a basic salary of SAR 7,000 and housing of SAR 2,000, a Saudi on the old system takes home SAR 9,122.50 a month (SAR 109,470 a year). Your own figure depends on how your pay splits between basic, housing and other allowances, which you can set in the calculator.

Do expats pay GOSI?

No. Non-Saudi employees have no GOSI deduction from their salary; the employer pays 2% of the contributory wage for occupational hazards cover. GCC nationals are the exception: they contribute under their own country's scheme.

What is the GOSI rate for employees who joined after July 2024?

Under the new Social Insurance Law, Saudis first insured from 3 July 2024 pay an annuities rate that rises by half a point each July until 11% in 2028. It is 10% from July 2026 to June 2027, plus 0.75% SANED, and the employer pays the same again.

Is GOSI calculated on basic salary or total salary?

On basic salary plus housing allowance (commissions and sales or profit percentages count as part of the basic wage). Transport and other allowances are not included. If your employer provides accommodation, housing counts as two months of basic salary a year.

Is there income tax on salaries in Saudi Arabia?

No. Income tax in Saudi Arabia is charged on businesses, such as the non-Saudi share of a company's profits, not on employees' salaries, whether Saudi or expatriate. The only deductions from pay are GOSI contributions.

What is the maximum GOSI deduction?

The contributory wage is capped at SAR 45,000 a month, so a Saudi on the old system pays at most SAR 4,387.50 a month. Anything you earn above that in basic salary and housing has no further deduction.

How much does my employer pay to GOSI?

For a Saudi employee, the same annuities and SANED rates as you plus 2% occupational hazards, all on the contributory wage; for a non-Saudi, only the 2%. The calculator shows the employer's total under the breakdown. It is paid on top of your salary, not deducted from it.
