Turn the best part of a song, a voice clip or a sound effect into a ringtone. Pick the section on the waveform (up to 30 seconds, which works on both iPhone and Android), preview it, add a short fade so it does not start abruptly, and export it in the format your phone expects.

iPhone ringtones are AAC audio in an MPEG-4 file with the .m4r extension; Android phones use ordinary MP3 files. The file is cut and encoded by FFmpeg in your browser, so the song stays on your device. After exporting, follow the steps shown under the download button to set it as your ringtone. Only use music you have the right to use.

How to use it

  1. Drop a song or sound (MP3, M4A, WAV, OGG, FLAC or WebM).
  2. Choose iPhone (M4R) or Android (MP3).
  3. Drag the handles to the part you want, up to 30 seconds, and play it to check. Add a fade in and fade out of a second or two.
  4. Click Make ringtone, download the file and follow the on-screen steps to set it on your phone.

Frequently asked questions

Is my audio uploaded?

No. The waveform is decoded by your browser and the export is made by FFmpeg running in WebAssembly on your device.

How do I put the M4R file on my iPhone?

Connect the iPhone to a Mac (Finder) or a Windows PC (iTunes or Apple Devices) and drag the .m4r file onto the phone; it appears under Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Ringtone. Without a computer, import the clip into GarageBand on the iPhone and use Share > Ringtone.

How do I set the MP3 as a ringtone on Android?

Copy the MP3 to the phone (the Ringtones folder or Downloads), then open Settings > Sound > Phone ringtone and add it from your files. The exact menu names depend on the manufacturer.

Why 30 seconds?

Apple accepts ringtones up to about 40 seconds and text tones up to 30. A call rarely rings longer than 30 seconds before voicemail, so 30 seconds is a safe maximum for every phone.
