Convert WebP to JPG

Turn WebP images saved from the web into JPG files every app can open.

How it works

Most images you save from a website today are WebP, because it is 25-35% smaller than JPG at the same quality and every browser supports it. The trouble starts outside the browser: older photo editors, some email clients, document uploaders and print shops still expect JPG or PNG.

The browser already knows how to decode WebP, so this converter just re-encodes the pixels as JPG at the quality you pick. Animated WebP files are converted using their first frame. Transparent areas are filled with white because JPG has no alpha channel; if you need transparency, keep the file as WebP or convert to PNG with the resizer.

Where WebP still causes trouble

Choose the output by what you will do next: JPG for photos going to a form or a print shop, PNG (with the image resizer) for graphics with transparency or sharp text, and keep the WebP for anything that stays on the web, where it is the smallest of the three.

  • Upload forms and portals that list "JPG, JPEG, PNG" as the accepted types; many government and job sites still do.
  • Older desktop editors and photo viewers, and some print-shop ordering systems.
  • Email clients that show a WebP attachment as a download rather than a picture.
  • Office documents made with older versions of Word or PowerPoint, which cannot insert WebP.

How to use it

  1. Drop the .webp file on the upload area or click to browse.
  2. Set the quality. 90% is visually identical for photos; 80% is fine for screenshots and graphics.

Frequently asked questions

Will converting to JPG lose quality?

Slightly, because both WebP and JPG are lossy. At 90% quality the loss is invisible on screen. Avoid converting back and forth several times.

What happens to transparency?

JPG cannot store transparency, so transparent pixels become white. Use the image resizer with PNG output if the transparency matters.

Can I convert an animated WebP?

Only the first frame is converted; JPG is a still-image format.
