Scans often carry a dark scanner border, slides exported to PDF have wide white margins, and print files have crop marks. Drag the handles of the crop box on the page preview, or type the margins to remove in millimetres, and apply the crop to every page, the page shown or a range.
The crop is written to the page boxes of the PDF: the CropBox, and by default also the MediaBox so every viewer and printer uses the new page size. Pages of a different size get the same margins in proportion. Content is not re-rendered, so text and images keep their quality.
Cropping hides what is outside the box; it does not delete it. If you are cropping to remove sensitive information, use Redact PDF instead, which removes the content from the file.
How to use it
- Choose a PDF; the first page is shown with a crop box.
- Drag the edges or corners of the box, or type the margins in millimetres.
- Choose whether the crop applies to all pages, the page shown or a range.
- Click Crop PDF and download the file.
Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded?
No. The file is read and processed by your browser on your device; nothing is sent to a server. You can load the page, switch off Wi-Fi and it still works.
Is the cropped area deleted?
No. PDF cropping changes the visible page area; the content outside it is still in the file and can be recovered with an editor. To remove information permanently, use Redact PDF.
Why does the page size change in my viewer?
With "Also shrink the page size" on, the MediaBox is set to the crop, so the page really is smaller. Turn it off to change only the visible area (CropBox).
Can I crop pages differently?
Apply a crop to one page or range, download, then open the result and crop the next range. Each pass is instant.
Does it work on rotated pages?
Yes. The box is drawn on the page as you see it, and the tool converts it for pages stored with a rotation.
